There are so many great movies coming out this summer that there is bound to be a day or two where you can justify packing up the kids and heading out to one of the great movie theater’s in Tucson. Make sure to plan accordingly and catch a matinee. Not only will that keep you out of the mid day heat, it will also save you some money!

Seven Falls

Seven Falls is a great place to hike. If you are looking for things to do in Tucson that take you outdoors but also let you stay cool, this is a great option. You can take the shuttle bus to the trail head and take a nice hike to the falls. You can swim and cool off before heading back! It’s a cold, refreshing experience after a beautiful hike. It’s about 8 miles total and suitable for all hikers.

There is no admission fee for the splash pad at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park. It’s a great spot to allow the kids to blow off some steam without worrying about them getting too overheated. There are tons of great water features and it’s a great place for them to socialize and have some fun. It’s open to kids 12 and under and those who accompany them!

The Library

It doesn’t matter if you are headed to your local public library, the school library open for summer hours, or even just the library at your church or a friends house, reading is a great summer activity that can take you anywhere you want to go from the comfort of your air conditioned living room. Reading during the summer months can help keep young minds active and reading things they enjoy but aren’t “required” can really give them a new take on what might seem like a tedious task.

The kids can get some exercise and cool off, it’s a great alternative if you aren’t a fan of the traditional swimming pool activities.

We’re going old school for this one! What was more fun as a kid than playing with the hose or fighting with water balloons and squirt guns?
